Singer, actress, dancer, voice teacher, and busy mother of three, I am an expert at juggling schedules!
Music and dance have been the fabric of my life coming from a family with a strong musical background. Our family gatherings revolved around classical jam sessions and beautiful voices. It's no surprise that I was led into a career of performing.
After graduating college in Los Angeles, with an emphasis in voice, I sang and danced professionally in Las Vegas, Reno, Hawaii, and Atlantic City. I soon found myself on the Production Show circuit eventually finding my way to Cruise Ships - Princess Cruises and Royal Viking Cruise Lines - headlining the shows and performing my own cabaret and classical concerts. While working at sea and travelling the world, big band music and standards soon became an addition to my classical and show tune repertoire.
I continued my classical vocal studies as an apprentice under the guidance of Viviane Mordo and Maestro Carlo Menotti in New York City. New York became home for several years studying voice and performing Off Broadway and Regionally before returning to Las Vegas singing in "Jubilee" at Bally's Grand and concertizing - only this time as a newlywed. My husband and I spent several years in Las Vegas before returning home to California. Back home in California I have been able to return to my Musical Theater and Light Opera roots, performing leading and supporting roles in numerous productions throughout the Los Angeles and Ventura County areas.
During this time I have continued to maintain a thriving vocal studio for over 12 years under my married name, Mona Mills, first in Las Vegas and now in Los Angeles, specializing in young developing voices and aspiring artists of all ages. I consistently strive for musical excellence in myself and for my students by inspiring the joy of singing and working to meet one's fullest potential.
I love animals and pigs, long days at the beach, finding obscure Art songs to sing to drive my family crazy, long walks with our three daschunds, a great dance class, and relaxing days with my beautiful children and husband.
